I was honored to be selected to serve on the Snohomish County Superior Court bench in April 2024 and was retained in this position by a vote of the people in November 2024. I am reminded every day how much my previous judicial experience prepared me to take on the responsibilities of presiding over the serious matters heard in our Superior Court.
For more than three years, I served as the Presiding Judge in Edmonds Municipal Court. During that time, we expanded our Community Court, providing services directly to individuals to address the underlying issues that cause them to become involved with the court. Prior to becoming a judge, I served as a public defender for nearly 14 years and saw firsthand how difficult it is for many to exit the revolving door of the legal system.
As someone who grew up in Snohomish County, community involvement has always been incredibly important to me. I volunteer helping to teach an introduction to law class at Everett High School. I serve as a board member at the Edmonds Food Bank, the Edmonds College Foundation, and the Hazel Miller Foundation.
I became a judge because decisions made in the courtroom have far-reaching effects on real lives. The way that a judge conducts herself and speaks to the parties and attorneys in the courtroom makes all the difference in whether a person feels heard, regardless of the outcome. I aspire to be a judge who actively listens, shows empathy, and treats people with respect.
The support I received prior to my 2024 election is reflected in the pages of this website. I have worked hard throughout my career in Snohomish County to earn the respect of my colleagues and the community. I look forward to continuing my career in public service.
